Dear MG Community,
I am excited, energized, and honored to begin a new chapter with MEDIAGIRLS, as I step in to serve as the Interim Executive Director. This is an incredible opportunity to continue working for an organization that is dear to my heart. The mission is more relevant now than ever. I remember my middle school years being tough as I struggled with my own insecurities. I grew up just before social media started exploding in 2010. I’ve seen how social media has developed over the past ten years and I can’t imagine how much tougher my middle school years would have been if social media was thrown into the equation. I’m committed to helping girls, parents, and educators navigate this world together.
As I step into the role of Executive Director, one of my main priorities is to get to know all of you and build our own unique relationships. Michelle has built such a strong MEDIAGIRLS community and I am excited to continue to expand and grow on that. I would also like to recognize the tremendous work of the MEDIAGIRLS staff and board. It takes a village to start and grow an organization and their collective skills and passion are unmatched. I am excited to work alongside Amanda Mozea, who many of you already know, to continue to build out our programming. I look to her leadership and expertise as we build this new chapter together.
It is no secret that with the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic this brings a whole new host of challenges for nonprofit organizations, but I am optimistic and confident that we will continue to make a positive and lasting impact through our work. My vision and commitment to you is that MEDIAGIRLS continues to serve all girls with our programming and that we continue to amplify all voices and revolutionize media.
I look forward to working with you all and setting up time for us to connect in the coming weeks and months ahead. Please don’t hesitate to reach out!
